Hello everyone. I have long bitched about the unwillingness of Democrats to fight the periodic upward revisions of the National Debt limit.
Well, that time is nearing once again. The current limit of $7.384 trillion is approaching; doubtless the Treasury can employ accounting to delay the day of reckoning beyond the election, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be an issue. Here we have prima facie evidence of gross fiscal mismanagement by Bush and his congressional cronies, surfacing right before the election. In fact, the last revision was timed to have the limit reached shortly--but safely--after the election. Their calculations were wrong; the debt has mounted faster.
Let's tell the free-spending Republicans what we think of their profligacy. Here's the contact information for Bill Thomas, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee:

Obviously, your own representatives would be more likely to take notice. Can we get vulnerable congressional Republicans or Republican challengers to go on record with their position on raising the debt limit?
